Hey there, 👋 my name is Jeff.
Here’s my story: my family got their first computer when I was 12 years old and Paint Shop Pro came with it. I spent hours and hours on that computer learning everything there was to learn about PSP and staying up as late as my parent’s would let me to learn even more.
Interestingly I didn’t take any art classes in high school. I wasn’t as good at drawing or painting as I was at creating with a computer.
For my undergraduate degree I attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received my degree in graphic design.
I actually tested out of my Intro to InDesign class. There were 36 questions and I missed only one. That one question was “When text exits a text box a red box with a plus shows up in the bottom right corner - what is that red box with a plus sign called?” No idea. I knew what it meant and what do to about it (it meant there was more text than would fit in the text box) but had no idea what the name of it was. Apparently it was more important that I knew the name of that than what it did. To this day, I’m still not sure what that box is called!
I entered the workforce, not as a print designer, but as a product designer and it’s one of the best decisions I could have made. I knew very little about what that meant at the time but have learned so much over my career and love to help people with the programs that they use through user experience and design.
I received my graduate degree from Iowa State University in Human Computer Interaction.
I’ve been working professionally for over 13 years and look forward to helping users every day.
UX activities that I have experience in include research (both background and user), site maps, sketching, wire framing and prototyping, usability testing and visual design.
I am currently accepting freelancing projects.
